Abstract

Background of the study: Even though social media is an integral part of college students' lives, there are still no exclusive studies made to examine the intensity of social media use in college students' daily lives. Hence, the current study focused on measuring college students' social media use in their daily lives. Objectives of the study: The present study aims to measure the intensity of social media use among the college students; the study also pinpoints the determinants of the intensity of social media use. Methods: The study is cross-sectional in nature along with the descriptive research design. To analyse the quantitative data, SPSS software was used. To measure the intensity of social media use, a social media use scale was adopted, along with a socio-economic demographic profile. Findings and conclusion: in the study, the researcher found that more than half of the respondents have a moderate level of social media use. The study concluded that age, gender, family type, residence, and duration of social media use were significantly associated with social media intensity. The study concludes that the socio-economic demographic variables influence the intensity of social media use.
