Abstract
ABSTRACT
Ramkeli, a sanctified realm of profound spiritual resonance, stands as an illustrious confluence of Sanatan Dharma, Vaishnav devotion, and the hallowed legacy of Roop-Sanatan Goswami. Located in present-day Mohodipur, in the Malda District of West Bengal, this revered pilgrimage site holds a special place in the devotional landscape of Gaudiya Vaishnavism. Nestled in the heart of Bengal, this sacred site, once a seat of political prominence, metamorphosed into a radiant beacon of Bhakti under the divine grace of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu and his devoted disciples. The ascetic brothers, Roop and Sanatan, relinquished their worldly stature to embrace the sublime path of devotion, transforming Ramkeli into an epicenter of Gaudiya Vaishnavism's theological and cultural efflorescence.
This research explores the theological, historical, and cultural significance of Ramkeli as a Vaishnav P??hasth?n (sacred site) and its role in shaping the Bhakti movement in medieval India. The study examines Ramkeli's transformation from a political hub to a center of spiritual resurgence, shedding light on how Roop and Sanatan Goswami's contributions helped institutionalize Gaudiya Vaishnavism. Additionally, the research delves into the architectural and literary heritage of Ramkeli, analyzing its connection to sacred texts, rituals, and oral traditions.
Employing an interdisciplinary lens, this research synthesizes historical inquiry, theological discourse, and ethnographic insights to present a comprehensive portrayal of Ramkeli's sacred essence.
