Abstract
Matthew Gregory Lewis�s The Monk is a quintessential novel within the Gothic genre. It relies on traditional male and female gender roles and then obscures and deconstructs those gender roles in order to facilitate the idea of horror. During this time period, a traditional female gender role would be filled by a passive, weak, subservient, and sexually reactive woman. Matthew Lewis revolutionizes Gothic literature by crafting powerful women characters that deviate from traditional female gender roles. Although readers often address gender in discussions of The Monk, the issue of how Lewis empowers women characters who exhibit traditionally masculine characteristics has not been fully dealt with. My analysis of Lewis�s gender defying characters focuses on three important women from the novel: Marguerite, the Bleeding Nun, and the primary villain, Matilda. Each of these characters plays a different role in The Monk, but they are similar in that they all achieve their ultimate goals by adopting traditionally masculine traits. It is showed how these women achieve their remarkably different goals by ignoring the societal constraints of their gender and leaving behind the traditional ideals of feminine virtue. By presenting female characters in The Monk who ultimately achieve their desires through traditionally masculine actions, Matthew Lewis creates a space for women characters to explore gender deviance within Gothic literature.

Abstract
It lies to the north of the trunk river Ganga which cris crosses the central part of Bihar in easterly direction. This plain is covered by immense expanses of unconsolidated sediments and therefore, remained neglected for long by the geologist who directed most of their energies to solid rocks. It is only in the recent years that the nature of the thick pile of the quaternary deposits that make up the plains, the type and affinities of the basement beneath them and their tectonics have started to be unravelled with the advent of sophisticated geophysical techniques and deep drilling carried out mainly to meet the needs of the prospecting for hydro carbons. The Indo-Gangetic trough part of North Bihar is asymmetrical due to subsidence of five kilometres during the plio-pleistocene times to the north of the trough and very little to the south. As the subsidence was active in the trough very rapid uplift was going on immediately to the north. According to Ramachandran Rao (1973) the Indo-Gangetic depression is divisible from east to west into five units of which one of them is the Ganga plain in Bihar

Abstract
Philosophy, in every generation reflects its relevant teaching for the special group of people. Being the philosophers Plato and Aristotle both have contributed enormously in the development of social and political philosophy. In spite of the distinctive aspect of the contemporary situation, and although ancient political philosophies were conveyed under very different environments, their study still illuminates vital questions today. Aristotle was the follower of Plato, but both differ in their technique of exploration. Aristotle�s Treaties and Plato�s Dialogue are differing in more than one way.

Abstract
Modern society is developing into a network society in which a growing number of problems emerge that seem impossible to solve with traditional approaches and instruments or through existing institutions (Rotmans et al. 2001). The process of modernization in the industrialized world has produced these �symptoms of unsustainability� as a side-effect of economic development, technological progress and the continuing increase in wealth. Examples of these unsustainability symptoms on a global scale are the over-consumption of natural resources, social and economic inequalities, loss of biodiversity and climate change problems.
