  Abstract


In the present study effect of shielding gases in welding process which results in weld bead characteristics of metal was studied. The welding was carried out by using the GTAW(Gas Tungsten Arc Welding)/TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) process. GTAW is very commonly used in the areas such as rail, car manufacturing, automotive and chemical industries. The materialInconel718 is a nickel-based super alloy generally used at elevated temperature applications including turbine engines and power generation because of its superior mechanical properties. In the present experimentation, An attempt was made to study the weld characteristics of Inconel718alloy weld samples with different shielding gases of Argon and Argon-hydrogen gas.
